Bomi & Billy at Thornewood Castle…

Monday, May 4th, 2015

Bomi and Billy’s wedding was featured last year in the summer issue of Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine, and I’m excited to finally get these gorgeous feminine photos by KT Merry up on the blog. Each shot feels sort of like a dreamy fairytale, no? The bride and groom live in New York, so we only got to meet once before their wedding, but they were a breeze to work with and so kind and appreciative. Grooms are usually pretty preoccupied day-of (and rightfully so), but Billy made a point to find me during set-up to thank us and tell me again just how happy Bomi was with everything we had created. It’s the little things…

Weddings By Design Magazine

Monday, February 25th, 2013

This beautiful magazine has been sitting on my side table for a month now, and it’s about time I share. A talented team came together to create this editorial shoot for Weddings By Design, and I quite like how it turned out. Be sure to scroll to the bottom for a bit of moody urban drama.

Valentine’s at Anthropologie

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

We spent our Valentine’s at Anthropologie. My gift from James was to hang out with me for the day. You know, wake up at 5, help me set up, keep me company, make pastry/coffee runs, chit-chat with customers, enjoy his day off… Ha! We were so busy, we managed to sneak in one of those caffeine runs and then proceeded to go all day on a single ham and cheese croissant and latte. Needless to say, when we were pitching water out of the 30+ cylinder vases into the alley drain at 8:30 that night, I was more than ready for food and a few ibuprofens. And yes, it was a long day, but a good day. We sent so many happy people home with beautiful flowers. And The Whale Wins would be our Valentine treat at the end of it all…

That is, until we pulled out of the alley, stopped at the first intersection downtown and saw a homeless man walk into the crosswalk, slam his fist on the hood of our car with all his might, and proceed to shout profanities; none of this directed at us, of course, but at the young man that had also walked into the crosswalk swinging his skateboard at the other man’s head. Aww love…

Needless to say, we didn’t make it to our planned destination. After assessing the 6″ dent on the hood, we decided to file a report with our insurance company and head home. A quick bite and a bottle of wine at the nearby pizza joint would have to suffice, and did only after I arrived three minutes past when they stopped seating, gave the poor waiter a completely defeated look and politely (ahem, begged) “Please?” He consulted the kitchen and allowed us to take a table in the corner if we didn’t mind them cleaning up around us. You just gotta laugh. And James, toasting to V-Day and us and life, reminded me yet again how lucky I am. I love him.

Thank you, Julie Harmsen Photography for snapping these lovely shots!

This happened in 2012, and somehow I forgot to share it on the blog!! (If you follow some of our happenings on Facebook, you’ve likely already seen it.) But for those who haven’t, my sweet friend Jenn from Scout invited me in on her beautifully designed shoot to handle florals (and all things herby, fresh, and green). Didn’t she knock it out of the park? This may actually be the perfect time of year to share these photos, as we’re likely all quite over the grey and drizzle and quite ready for a little springtime green! Jasmine Star captured these gorgeous shots. And might I just add, what a wonderful day it was, working with this crew. Everyone was seriously delightful. I loved it.

Style Me Pretty featured it back in October. You can see that HERE.

What a good sport! And so cute!

See? Just look at that lineup!

An Autumn Table on Camille Styles

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

A while back the Camille Styles blog asked us to design an autumn themed something-something as part of their Thanksgiving content, and believe it or not, it’s almost Thanksgiving! (And it’s up on their blog today, so head on over.) We opted for a mix of old and new, rustic and modern. You know how much I love my gourds and pumpkins, so they had to find a small place in the design, but the majority of our efforts were focused on setting a beautiful yet approachable table for your family and  friends to gather around. Michele M. Waite, talented lady that she is, captured the details beautifully.

You know that dreamy, soft, romantic style of photography we all see and immediately love? Bryce Covey does that. And does it well. So obviously I’m going to get a flower or two in front of his lens any chance I get. These two bouquets were featured on Wedding Chicks a couple weeks ago. (You can see the full feature here.) Of course I chatted it up on our Facebook page because the photos! They’re just so pretty. But forgot to ever mention it on the blog, so today I shall.

Aren’t you completely impressed with the new look of BRIDES magazine? It’s so great to see major players in the wedding industry embracing this fresh style. Of course I love that lately they’ve been featuring floral geniuses like Livia Cetti, Nicolette Camille, Poppies & Posies and Amy Merrick… Honestly, that right there is enough to make the magazine golden. But this August’s issue is even a bit more special because there’s a 4-page feature on Seattle and includes “the people and places you need to know to plan a wedding” in our beautiful city. And guess who’s featured, along with a fantastic group of talented event pros…

Seattle Bride Magazine

Saturday, July 28th, 2012

Thank you, Seattle Bride Magazine for the beautiful feature! If you recall, I totally adore Erin and Chris and was thrilled when Seattle Bride asked to feature their wedding. They are just one of the sweetest couples out there, and working with Erin was a delight. And those pumpkins… Don’t get me started! The whites, dusty blues, and soft peaches… gasp! Love them. I’m growing them again this year. (And by “I”, I mean “Dad”. Eh, semantics.)

Psst… Erin is also a really talented fashion designer. Just saying.

a nice little surprise

Always look forward to the latest issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom… like it even more when it shows up in the mail with a spicy little number I created a few months back filling the cover. Well that’s fun. Thank you, SMBG!
